A creative block often feels like this:

You want to create art, but there’s always something else that comes first. Your creative drive is there, but actualizing and exploring the your visions is a struggle.

Who are these sessions for?

Creative unblocking sessions are for anyone (18+ yrs) who is looking to develop their creative work - regardless of your medium or level of experience. I believe that consistently making visual art is a pathway for strengthening creative confidence in any medium. I have worked with comedians, visual artists, musicians, poets, teachers, business owners, doctors… the list goes on. Whether you are new to visual art and ready explore your creative potential or if you’re an experienced creator and you’re ready get to the next level of your craft - we can work together.

My approach

I draw from “The Artist’s Way” by Julia Cameron, as well as on my own experience and that of my past students. Building skills is just one element of being an artist - the often more difficult thing is getting past the emotional blocks that pull us away from making art. I honor the fact that making art is often a non-linear process. However, there are plenty of steps that you can take to make consistent progress. I will work with you to discover what makes your art flow, and give you the support and structure to help your art develop. In our time together we will learn to make things, mess up and remember how to play. We will explore tools to express our whole selves using art, design, and craft.

How long will we work together?

Typically I meet with clients once every two weeks over a period of six months. This gives you plenty of time to explore and develop your creative practice between sessions. My timing is flexible and I am usually able to accommodate busy/changing schedules.

Where will we meet?

All sessions take place over video chat. I typically use Skype, FaceTime, or Google Hangouts. Reliable internet connection is key.

creative unblocking students say…

Sharon is a wonderful teacher - whether you’re looking to learn to paint or just unblock some creativity. I have been taking watercolor lessons with her which is a new medium for me and she has opened up my world! She has been teaching the foundations and basics yet allowing me to develop my own style. Sharon also has a really great intuition for what might be a weakness in my skill set and really tries to personalize the lessons and homework. I have so much fun learning to watercolor paint with her and look forward to many more Skype classes!!

I loved taking Sharon’s, “How to Unblock Creativity” course. Before the class, I had some experience with oil painting, but I always wanted to try out water colors and abstract art. Sharon’s class was perfect for beginners, as well as experienced artists feeling stuck in their work. She started some classes by reading quotes about approaching art, and she offered fun and easy assignments for sparking creativity outside of the classroom. She provides a great balance of breaking down each step, while allowing time for exploration. Sharon is always bubbling with enthusiasm and optimism, creating a safe and inviting environment for all of her students. I also love following her artwork, she is very talented!

I signed up for How to Unblock Creativity on a whim and am so glad that I did. In my daily art practice, I had grown stagnant and uninspired but the weekly classes helped changed that. Not only did I play with and learn new techniques that I still use to this day, but Sharon brought a wonderful energy. She was excited, and authentic, and willing to share pieces of her own journey with us and she was non-judgmental. It was a nice way to get back into a creative mindset and I would recommend for anyone, regardless of previous experience. The class was accessible to people of all levels, and the projects were all able to be suited to interests, likes and ability without making anyone feel like they were missing a beat. No reason to feel nervous!

Sharon is a magical creative spirit guide. I’ve had the honor of working with her as my creative coach and friend for many years, and have completely transformed as an artist because of her. Sharon has helped me unblock my creativity from self-doubt and, on a deeper level, learn to love and embrace my authentic self. Her coaching method is delightfully therapeutic and freeing, yet structured and supportive where it needs to be. She is a passionate creatress and facilitator. She works fiercely and honestly with the playfulness of a child and the caring touch of a practitioner. I cannot recommend Sharon highly enough. Her energy will change your creative practice and touch your soul!

I took Sharon’s “Unblocking Creativity” class and it was great! I hadn’t created any art for a long time and Sharon made it approachable and fun to jump back in. Sharon was always prepared with activities that opened me up to discover my artistic self. Sharon also provided ample one-on-one time for any class-goers that wanted the extra support.
