I help people find + share their creativity
I am working with Amber Art + Design to paint murals and play elements in the schoolyards of 8 Philadelphia elementary + middle schools this summer. We are installing murals and covering blank blacktops with tons of games and educational art.
This nursery room mural was painted in March 2019 Nomi and Micah’s newborn twins, Nadav and Eyal! The mural is inspired by the hebrew quote אשא עיני אל ההרים - “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. "
I designed and painted this 11”x 8” mural for “The Wanderer’s Nest”, a hostel in Chitkul, India. Chitkul is in the Indian Himalayas at an elevation of 14,500 feet! I worked with the hostel to create a work that reflects their brand and logo.
I designed and painted an approx. 4.5’ x 2’ mural on a bedroom wall at the Live Free Hostel in Rishikesh, India. Inspiration for the mural was drawn from the spiritual symbol of the Hindu mandala, combined with the vibrant Indian textile patterns that flood the streets of Rishikesh.
In Spring 2018 I designed, painted, and installed a custom triptych painting for tech company, Two Six Labs. I lead the Two Six Labs team through a creative brainstorming process to design a “movable mural” that embodies the company’s values and speaks to their brand. The final product, three 4’x8’ paintings were painted with watercolor on canvas.
I designed and painted an approx. 8’ x 24’ mural on the outside of the staff office at community textile arts space, Ock Pop Tok, in the world heritage city, Luang Prabang, Laos. The mural was inspired by animal motifs found in traditional Laotian textiles. Click here to learn more about the process.
During my travels in Southeast Asia, I designed and painted an approx. 8’ x 8’ mural for the Laos Friend bar. Despite a language barrier, I worked with the bar owner, Akeow, to create a design that visualized the cozy and international quality of the bar.
At the Center for Architecture and Design I managed the DesignPhiladelphia Festival, a 10-day Festival that features 130 public design related events around Philadelphia annually. I worked with over 150 arts, culture, and design organizations to develop programming for DesignPhiladelphia. Throughout my time at DesignPhiladelphia, I worked on all aspects of the Festival, including communications, strategic direction, content curation, research, development, and program management. Over the course of 2.5 years, I helped grow the Festival to it’s largest size yet, develop international collaborations, design and curate exhibits, and develop a deep understanding of Philadelphia’s design communities.
On Martin Luther King Day 2018, I worked with students from B.B Comegys School in West Philadelphia to paint a mural. I designed the mural as a small watercolor, and together we translated the little 4x4 inch painting, to a full scale mural! It was an exhilarating experience.
I teach movement meditation classes at West Philly community center, Ahimsa House. I guide students into the nonverbal yet deeply communicative realm of dance. Our sessions reveal how the choices of how we express our bodily energy reveal emotional states.
